Senior Capstones

Deliverables
Packaging & Print
Three Senior projects during my time as a design student at the University of Maryland. These projects took the consideration of being sustainable or being as sustainable as possible. Form and function also played a large role in each of the designs, execution at times proved to be more time consuming than not.

Laser Cut File For Wood Cover

Each of the typefaces featured in this book was correlated to a destination on the NYC MTA system. Heavily researched, these quips gave the team an advantage by adding that depth of history for each typeface featured.
AWARDS
Student ADDY Awards
Winning two ADDY Awards on the student level, this team project I lead was successful on theme as well as meeting our demographics needs. A publication that is more of a catalog for type nerds; I knew the viewing experience also had to be tactile in order to really appeal to the audience instantly. The User Experience influenced the structure and design of this piece, the textures and heft of the wood cover along with the composition of every page needed human attention to detail as far as how one would handle the book and how that can evolve when applying new tech. These considerations allowed for not only an intriguing read but a source of continual discovery behind the team's intentions when putting this catalog together. With a total of 14 books made, each constructed of a single piece of hobby wood paneling using a laser cutting technique known as a living hinge, the binding itself is a great pattern design any true designer can appreciate.
